LOCATIONS

Welcome to the world of Papajoe's Pizza, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Bellflower, California. Located at 16517 Lakewood Blvd, this charming establishment has been making waves with its no-nonsense approach to pizza-making, serving up delicious pies with generous toppings. As a food reviewer for Restaurant World, I have come to appreciate the essence of authentic dining experiences, and Papajoe’s has it in spades.

From the moment you place your call at +1 562-602-0111, you enter a world where efficiency meets flavor. Customers rave about the simplicity of the ordering process—the owner is a man of few words, yet he communicates his expertise through the quality of his food. Expect a brief conversation that leaves you eagerly anticipating a pizza that’s well worth the wait.

What makes Papajoe's stand out? Let’s dive into their enticing menu:

  • Thin Crust Pizzas: You can’t go wrong with the Papa Joe’s Favourite for $22.45 or opt for a classic cheese pizza starting at just $6.95.
  • Double Crust Pizzas: Perfect for those who crave a heartier bite, with options like the Meat Lovers Delight at $26.85.
  • Specialty Pizzas: The Vegetarian Pizza and Wind City Classic add vibrant flavors to the mix, each priced reasonably to ensure you can indulge without breaking the bank.

Customers have noted the impressive balance of toppings and cheese on the pizzas, with delectable crusts that are soft yet crisp at the edges. The Hawaiian Style Pizza and the Sicilian Style Pizza are particularly highlighted for their flavor profiles, warranting a second visit just to relish them again.

While some may find the atmosphere a bit unorthodox—think a sturdy black door as your point of entry—the dining experience truly is about the food. As one patron succinctly put it, “this is type of place you get your food and move on.” It’s an efficient setup, perfect for those who crave great pizza without the fuss.

And let’s not forget those late-night hours; Papajoe’s is a beacon for pizza lovers at all hours. The reviews reflect a striking consensus: the food is excellent, budget-friendly, and personalized to your taste with a remarkable level of consistent quality.

So if you find yourself around Bellflower, make sure to give Papajoe's Pizza a try. It may not be your traditional pizzeria experience, but the robust flavors and satisfying pies will leave you with a smile—and likely, a plan to return before the next craving strikes!

This is type of place you get your food and move the heck on. He takes the call barely says two words and your food will be ready and delicious in no time. If you call he might text you instead. Don’t expect any type of award winning service. The food is good and worth it. Pizza has plenty of tuoppings and cheese and the dough soft with a little crisp.

There is another review discussing the pizza portal, and that review is spot on. I'll just post to say the pizza was delicious, portions were fair and the crust was perfect. Also, here is the menu since it wasn't online.

Looking for a pizza spot outside the Normal and this location was open . Read the reviews and seemed like a legit spot. And like all positive reviews I read the phone call was short and to the point. You order your pizza and the owner will send you a ETA text and a text when ready to pick up. You pay and take the pizza home . To my absolute surprise it was very delicious. Cheesy and full of pepperoni. Crust was nice and warm , soft too . Came with parm and peppers without even needing to ask. Would reccomend giving it a try definitely one of the best hole in the wall spots I have been too

Nice pizza at a good price. Good location for Lakewood residents. Kudos for having late night hours! I had the two large 2-topping pizzas with my husband. Saving pizza #2 for the morning.

I read a review about this place? Locked door, dark, call in your order, your order will be made even without yhem taking your name.... all true. A few weeks ago my brother in law brought us some pizza from here..... and it was delicious. Now yes, costco&sams have pizzas under 10, here a large is 14.99tax but you get choices, many choices. My niece, her husband and her daughter said, this is the BEST pepperoni pizzas they've EVER had. I agree it is really really good. Their Hawaiian pizza is very good too, and my personal favorite. So I am making this my pizza place for takeout pizza for my family gatherings when pizza is craved. I imagine the locked metal security door is for their protection and safety. With so many break-ins, I'd keep the door locked too if I worked or owned that place. The door has an opening for 3 large pizza boxes to pass thru, they park their car in the driveway so only street parking is available. Quoted 20 minutes, I usually arrive early because I don't want my food to sit and wait for me, but that's just me, I waited a few minutes outside. I only saw 1 person inside, hustling so be patient or order ealier if you need them at a specific time.

Ever since I found this pizza place it's where I come only. Better than the other big name franchise's. And also the price here is great.

Pizza is awesome and toppings are generous. But this isn't a place to loiter or hang around. Simply call, state your order, owner will say thank you and hang up. It will be a 15 second call and he will not ask your name or callback number. But trust me, he got the message and will be making your pizza. When you get there you will approach an odd looking black door, it will be closed. If no one is around go ahead and call. The whole transaction will take place through a closed door with a pizza sized hole in the center. They say the shadiest spots have the best food and that rings true for this place. Only downside is the hours are inconsistent and the owner doesn't always answer

You can get a great deal and I love the crest. I usually don't eat the crest but his is really good. It's crazy how good the dinner salad is because it's nothing big, but damn it's good. I have had every dinner special for lunch . Wings are great. I really like this place and food.
